UMOM NEW DAY CENTERS

UMOM New Day Centers addresses a critical community need by providing safe shelter, housing and supportive services to homeless families and individuals. They served over 6,000 individuals in 2012, including over 2,000 children. UMOM keeps families together, providing a continuum of care from emergency shelter to permanent, affordable housing. Families at UMOM have the opportunity to gain the skills, medical care, quality child care, and education they need to rebuild their lives.

Executive Council Charities launched a new initiative in the summer of 2015 and is donating the materials, labor and project management to assist UMOM with a major capital project – the construction of a new Donation Store on their main campus.   The project, slated for completion in the fall of 2015, will provide a valuable fundraising opportunity for UMOM as they collect and resell goods donated by the community but it will also provide a unique opportunity for UMOM clients through their Workforce Development Program.  Clients will be able to get training and experience for retail careers as they look to get back into the workforce and rebuild their lives.   In total, Executive Council Charities will collect from donor partners and contributed to UMOM nearly $200,000 of in-kind goods and services to complete the project.
